
Kozhikode: Senior Congress leader and former minister Adv P Sankaran passed away at MVR Cancer Centre here on Tuesday around 11 pm. He was 73. He was under treatment for cancer.
He served as Tourism-Health department minister in AK Antony’s cabinet in 2001. He was elected as MP from Kozhikode in the Lok Sabha elections in 1998.
He also served as KPCC general secretary, Kozhikode DCC president, General Secretary, Youth Congress district president, Calicut University syndicate member and University Vice Chairman.
He was UDF district chairman and president of Co-operative Insurance Society.
He is survived by his wife V Sudha, daughters Indhu, Priya and son Rajeev.
