Kalpetta: Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan has stated that he accepts the apology from P.V. Anvar. Satheesan clarified that the door to Anvar’s entry into the UDF is neither closed nor fully open, and a suitable decision will be made at the appropriate time.
Anvar had previously claimed in the Assembly that a Rs.150 crore money smuggling allegation was made at the behest of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s political secretary, P. Sasi. However, during a press conference where he announced his resignation, Anvar apologized to Satheesan for raising a false allegation. Following this, Satheesan has stated that he accepts Anvar’s apology.
“I had said at that time that the allegation made by Anvar was done with the knowledge and blessings of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. They all laughed it off. No MLA can make such an allegation without the CM’s knowledge. I wondered whether I should laugh or cry when considering the pitiable state they were in,” said Satheesan.
With Anvar’s revelation, it has become clear that the allegation was part of a conspiracy orchestrated by a group within the Chief Minister’s Office. In their attempt to defend the CM from the allegations, they fabricated accusations against the opposition leader. Such allegations were raised for their own survival. The Vigilance Department had conducted an investigation into the claim and dismissed it as baseless,” Satheesan added.
“I had said at the time that the allegations were made with the support of the CPM leadership and that Anvar was merely a tool. Now, Anvar himself has come forward and confirmed what I had stated earlier,” he concluded.
