
Thiruvananthapuram: A record amount of alcohol was consumed by Malayalees on Uthradam (first Onam) day. It is indicated that Rs 124 crore worth of liquor was sold on Uthradam day alone. Last time, it was Rs 116 crores. Bevco outlets are closed on Thiruvonam day.
The Kollam Asramam outlet holds the first position in selling the most liquor in the state. Liquor worth Rs 1.15 crore was sold here. Second is the Karunagappally outlet, and the third is the Chalakudy outlet. Here, liquor worth Rs 1.04 crore is estimated to have been sold. Irinjalakuda outlet is at the fourth position.
In 2023, Irinjalakuda outlet was the first in terms of liquor sales. Liquor worth Rs 1.06 crore was sold here. Kollam Asramam outlet was second with sales of Rs 1.01 crore worth of liquor.
