Kerala Cabinet approved an Onam gift of Rs 1,000 each to 52,864 Scheduled Castes(SC & ST) above 60 years, excluding pensioners, with funds from CM’s Relief Fund.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Wednesday approved an Onam assistance of ₹1,000 each for elderly members of the Scheduled Tribes (ST), officials said.
The benefit will be extended to 52,864 eligible persons above the age of 60, excluding pensioners of central, state and semi-government institutions. A total of ₹5.28(₹5,28,64,000) crore will be allocated from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the scheme.
The cabinet also decided to issue guidelines on the payment of bonuses to employees of public sector undertakings in Kerala for the 2024–25 financial year, based on recommendations from the Directorate of Industries & Commerce Department, Kerala State Planning Board and the Department of Economics & Statistics, Kerala.
