Thiruvananthapuram: Finance Minister KN Balagopal will conduct the draw of lots of the Onam bumper lottery on Sunday at 2 pm from Gorky Bhavan. The sales of Onam bumper lottery tickets, which offered the highest price ever, hit a record in Kerala by selling 66.5 lakhs tickets.
Over 54 lakh Onam bumper lottery tickets were sold in the previous year in the state. Initially, 65 lakh tickets were printed this year and 2.5 lakh tickets were printed again considering the increasing demand for tickets. Only one lakh tickets are left to be sold all over the state till noon on Sunday. The state lottery department had received permission to print upto 90 lakh tickets from the government.
An Onam bumper costs Rs 500. The agents who sell over 1000 tickets will obtain a commission of Rs 99.69, while the others receive Rs 95 as commission. Nearly Rs 400 will reach the government’s treasury from a single ticket.
The first prize winner will receive Rs 15.75 crore, after deducting taxes and agency commission.
