Thiruvananthapuram: BJP MLA O Rajagopal has dismissed reports claiming that he supported the resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly against the centre’s farm bills.
O Rajagopal released an official press release in which he stated that he has strongly opposed the resolution and that he does not oppose the centre’s farm bills. Rajagopal called the reports, which suggested that he was against the central government, false.
Rajagopal also accused Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan of violating protocol as he did not ask who supported and opposed the resolution separately.
Rajagopal also said that Congress had promised amendment of farm laws as part of their manifesto and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being blamed for everything. The issues should be resolved through discussions. Rajagopal also said that the Prime Minister is not against holding discussions and that he vehemently opposes the remarks made in the Assembly.
There were media reports earlier which suggested that O Rajagopal supported the resolution against the farm bills. Rajagopal had stated earlier that he had differences with certain points mentioned in the resolution but supported the overall resolution. “It is not right to oppose the state’s resolution just because I am a BJP MLA. The common sentiment was to stay together in passing the resolution. I interpret it as a democratic spirit,” he added.
