Veteran photojournalist N P Jayan found dead at his home in Wayanad’s Sultan Bathery.

Sultan Bathery: Photojournalist N P Jayan (54), who worked for many years as a photographer with The New Indian Express, was found hanging inside his house. Jayan, a native of Noolpuzha Nenmenikunnu in Wayanad, was living alone at his family home, Niravath House.
The incident came to light around 7pm on Saturday when his brother Vijayan arrived with food from a nearby house and found him. Jayan resigned from The New Indian Express in 2017. He later worked with Madhyamam newspaper and the Mathrubhumi SEED project.
His photographs regularly appeared in national dailies and magazines, earning wide recognition.
He also ran ‘VIBGYOR Studio’ and founded the ‘N P Jayan School of Photojournalism’.
Jayan had held numerous photo exhibitions in Delhi, Bengaluru and other cities. In recent years, he had been engaged in farming and running a farm homestay named ‘Prakrithi’.
His parents, Prabhakaran and Pankajakshi, had predeceased him.
The cremation will be held on Sunday.
