Thiruvananthapuram: Monalisa Bhosle, the viral star of the Kumbh Mela, and her husband Muhammad Farman have dismissed allegations of "Love Jihad" surrounding their wedding, stating that it was love beyond religion that brought them together. Speaking at a press conference at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club, Monalisa also clarified that she is over 18 years old and that rumours regarding her age are false.

The couple tied the knot on Wednesday evening at the Arumanoor Nainar Temple following Hindu rituals, a decision Muhammad Farman noted was made according to Monalisa's wishes.

The couple had travelled to Poovar for the filming of a movie starring Monalisa. After her father opposed their relationship and pressured her into another marriage, the couple sought assistance at the Thampanoor police station.

The couple expressed their gratitude to the Kerala government and local citizens for their support. They highlighted the efficiency of the 'K-Smart' system, which allowed them to receive their marriage certificate within an hour.

High-profile figures, including CPM state secretary M V Govindan, Minister V Sivankutty and MP A A Rahim, attended the wedding.

The couple shared that they have fallen in love with Kerala and intend to stay in the state. "The government and the people here stood by us. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supported our marriage," they said.
