Thiruvananthapuram: Fortunately, no one was injured after the ceiling of Pothecode Block Panchayath building collapsed here on Monday. The staff were on leave due to the ongoing two-day nationwide strike announced by the trade unions.

The collapsed building was in a dilapidated condition for some time. Due to this, a group of staff was shifted to another side of the building. However, some employees often visited this area of the building for day to day duties. 

It was reported that the building was constructed in 1955.
