Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government on Thursday decided increase to test 2.5 lakh people in the state for COVID-19 between April 16 and 17. Speaking to reporters here, Chief Secretary VP Joy stated that there is no need for a lockdown in the state.
He added that the Covid restrictions will be made more stricter and testing and vaccination will be increased in the state.
Steps such as extensive testing, strict containment and restrictions besides effective vaccination would also be taken to control the spread.
TThe testing will be conducted based on priority. Those in high risk categories will be tested on priority basis. More testing will be conducted on those below 45 years of age will also be tested.
Joy also stated that Kerala has a stock of only 7 lakh vaccine dose. 2 lakh vaccine dose will arrive in the state later today.
