Former IPS officer R Sreelekha may remain a Thiruvananthapuram corporation councillor as BJP state leadership steps in to resolve her grievances, even as her phone remains switched off following hospitalisation.

Thiruvananthapuram: Indications suggest that R Sreelekha may continue as a councillor. BJP sources responded that her resignation lacked party approval and that councillor-related grievances would be addressed during discussions with BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar. The party leadership is reportedly maintaining communication with Sreelekha to persuade her to withdraw the resignation. Meanwhile, her mobile phone remains switched off.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar is expected to arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday to hold talks with her. Sreelekha reportedly has several grievances regarding council functioning, which she is likely to raise during the meeting. Her concerns, including a lack of support from fellow council members, dissatisfaction over seating arrangements and insufficient consideration given to her views regarding the appointment of the Health Inspector for the Sasthamangalam ward, were previously conveyed to the Mayor. She had also reportedly spoken to the Mayor prior to submitting her resignation letter.
