Kozhikode: Health Minister Veena George on Saturday assured that the situation created by the Nipah virus in the state has subsided. She said that samples of the people who showed the slightest symptoms are sent to NIV Pune for testing. So far, all samples have turned negative.
“Concerns have been allayed but restrictions imposed on the district will continue. On the first day, vaccination in Kozhikode was stopped for 48 hours but was resumed later,” the minister said.
She also stated that mobile labs were being set up in the affected areas for vaccination.
A team from NIV reached the spot to find the source. Extreme caution continues and people who approach with mild symptoms are being examined in the lab set up at Kozhikode Medical College, the minister said.
