Coimbatore: With Nipah cases being reported in Kerala, the Tamil Nadu government has raised guard and has increased surveillance at the checkposts. Medical teams have been posted at Walayar and Nadukani checkposts. The Tamil Nadu government has posted medical teams at the 13 checkposts in Coimbatore and seven checkposts in Nilgiris district.
At present, vehicles coming from Kerala are being stopped, and passengers are being examined. The officials are checking whether passengers are suffering from fever or showing any kind of symptoms. If the symptoms are ascertained, passengers are sent back, they won’t be allowed to enter Tamil Nadu. Their phone numbers will be collected and further investigations will be done as well.
Coimbatore district health department deputy director Aruna informed that there will be round-the-clock surveillance at the checkposts.
