New Delhi: Mathrubhumi Online sub-editor Nileena Atholi won the 10th Laadli Media and Advertising award for  her report on Gender Sensitivity. She bagged the award for a news series on ‘Saakshara Keralathile Bharthrubalalsangangal’ which was published from July 12, 2019 to July 17 on Mathrubhumi daily and online. She was selected for the award in the feature category.

Nizar Puthuvana, a journalist of Madhyamam daily, has bagged the award for the best investigative story.

The award ceremony will be held online on November 20 at 4 pm.

Nileena’ s story was a study on the sexual assault faced by married women from their husbands in Kerala. She has won the award for the second time.

Earlier, she won Laadli media award for her news series titled ‘Ardha Jeevithangalude Arakshithavasthakal’ published in Mathrubhumi daily in 2016.

Nileena has also won Ramnath Goenka award, National Media Award, Vivekananda Puraskaram of Kerala government, Kerala Media Academy Award and various other awards.

She is the daughter of Parappanangadi natives Narayanan Atholi and Shylaja. She is married to Gautham. Nithara is her daughter.
