Palakkad: It is hinted that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) may take over the investigation into the case related to the parallel telephone exchange which was found in Palakkad on September 14, 2021. The move comes after finding several international relations and financial dealings in similar parallel telephone exchange cases uncovered in other districts. 

Though Kozhikode native Moideen Koya was taken into custody and interrogated over the Palakkad parallel telephone exchange case, not much lead was obtained. The details of calls made from the SIM cards found in the shop at Mettupalayam street in Palakkad were also not found. 

It is also learnt that there may be a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over the financial dealings. It is hinted that central agencies like the Directorate of Military Intelligence have collected information regarding parallel telephone exchanges. 

Meanwhile, the call details of the SIM cards found in Kozhikode parallel telephone exchange case were recovered. Further investigation revealed that calls were made to Pakistan and Kashmir. It was also found that there were incoming calls from China. With this, serious crimes and illegal activities like cyber terrorism, suspicious international relations and financial dealings have come to light.

The prime accused in the Kozhikode Parallel telephone exchange case was nabbed by the police from Wayanad on Friday night. The accused was identified as PP Shabeeer, who is the brother of Moideen Koya. Moideen Koya’s son Sharafudheen was arrested for a similar case in Karnataka. 

So far, 12 parallel telephone exchange cases have been reported in Kerala in districts including Palakkad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Ernakulam. The investigation agencies have drawn a conclusion that all telephone exchanges are connected to each other.
