Guruvayur: A bride and groom surprised devotees of Guruvayur Temple by joining a team of chenda and elathalam (hand cymbals) artistes amid their marriage ceremony.

In a video that surfaced on social media, the newly married couple can be seen performing alongside shinkari melam artistes on their way to the temple reception hall.

Reportedly, the shinkari melam artistes were arranged to lead the newlyweds to the hall.

The bride Shilpa, daughter of Chowallur natives Sreekumar and Rashmi, is a trained chenda artiste. The groom is Devanand, a native of Kannur.

In the video, the bride is seen beating the chenda in rhythm along with the fellow performers, while the groom also joined the act and played the cymbals.

The video of the wedding, which apparently took place a few days back, has gone viral on social media.
