Thiruvananthapuram: With rising demand for scrapping the contributory pension scheme, the cabinet has once again appointed a committee to look into the matter. The newly appointed committee will closely examine the suggestions of the previous committee, before putting forth its recommendations.
It should be noted that a few other states have already decided to scrap contributory pension and reinstate the statutory pension schemes. The Kerala government has now appointed a new committee in this regard taking the overall developments into consideration.
Finance Minister KN Balagopal, Law Minister P Rajeev and Chief Secretary Dr V Venu are members of the newly appointed committee. The cabinet has asked the committee to submit their report at the earliest. Even the central government has appointed a committee for reviewing the pension schemes.
