Sreekaryam (Thiruvananthapuram): The bodies of Dubai-based engineer Praveen Krishnan Nair, his wife Sarnaya Sasi and their three children Sreebadra, Archa and Abinav who died in a hotel room in Nepal were brought home at Chenkottukonam here.
The bodies first reached New Delhi from Kathmandu and were airlifted to Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The bodies were kept at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital mortuary and taken to Praveen's home at Chenkottukonam on Friday for the funeral.
A huge crowd gathered at the ‘Rohinibhavanam’ to have a last glimpse of the family and pay homage.
The last rites will be held at 9.30 in the morning. The three children will be cremated together.
Kerala Health Minister K K Shylaja had visited the parents of Praveen, Krishnan Nair and Prasannakumari, who were inconsolable.
The students and teachers of the Kochi school where the 3 children — Sree Bhadra (9), Aarcha (7) and Abhinav (4) — were studying, paid floral tributes at the framed photographs of their schoolmates after the assembly on Thursday morning.
Praveen’s friend Ranjith Kumar, wife Indulakshmi and their two-year-old son Vaishanav also died at the resort. Their bodies will be brought home in Kozhikode by Friday afternoon.
The deceased were among a group of 15 tourists from Kerala who had checked into a resort in Daman, a popular tourist spot in Makawanpur district, some 70 km south of Kathmandu. They died of possible asphyxiation in their room at the mountainous resort.
