Palakkad: The natives of Nenmara village here carried the dead body of a man killed by a wild boar to the Divisional Forest Office, as a protest against the department.
The protesters sought immediate action to curb the wild animal menace in the area.
Locals, along with the relatives of the deceased, staged a sit-in in protest in front of the office and raised slogans against the forest department.A wild boar attacked and killed Ayilur Olippara native Mani when he went for tapping work in the rubber plantation.
Alathur MP Ramya Haridas inaugurated the protest.
The forest officials did not act upon the multiple complaints filed, protestors alleged.
A wild boar can be shot if it is a threat. However, only the empanelled shooters can execute it, the law says.
