New Delhi: The complainant in a sexual assault case has approached the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order acquitting former minister Neelalohithadasan Nadar. The appeal points out alleged errors and discrepancies in the High Court verdict. The Supreme Court is expected to consider the appeal soon.

The case dates back to February 27, 1999, involving sexual assault against a senior official in the Kerala Forest Department. According to the complaint, the official was summoned to the Kozhikode Guest House for official purposes and was treated inappropriately. In February 2002, a senior IAS officer filed a complaint against Neelalohithadasan Nadar, prompting the IFS officer to come forward with her own complaint.

Earlier, the Kozhikode District Court had sentenced Neelalohithadasan Nadar to one year imprisonment for sexual assault against the IFS officer. However, last September, the High Court overturned the district court’s verdict, acquitting the former minister.

The complainant has now challenged this High Court decision in the Supreme Court, citing that a person in a position of authority had committed sexual assault against her and highlighting errors in the High Court judgment.
