The family of the late Naveen Babu, the former Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Kannur, has approached the Kerala High Court requesting a CBI inquiry into his death. The family is dissatisfied with the ongoing police investigation and urged the court to intervene for a more thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.
Naveen Babu’s wife submitted a petition to the Kerala High Court, requesting a CBI probe into the death. She emphasised that the family will only get justice if a central agency takes over the investigation.
Earlier, during an LDF meeting, the Chief Minister had assured that there would be no government interference in the probe into Babu's death. He promised that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, and that appropriate action would be taken against those responsible.
Also, speaking at the Kerala Secretariat Employees Association Annual Conference last month, Chief Minister Vijayan had stated, "Kerala has lost someone who was deeply dedicated to public service. Naveen Babu’s death is a tragic loss, and we must ensure that such incidents do not occur again."
Naveen Babu was found dead at his residence a day after corruption charges were raised against him by the Kannur District Panchayat president.
