The bus used to ferry the Chief Minister and other ministers across the state in connection with Nava Kerala Sadas will begin its first inter-state service on Sunday. Operating on the Kozhikode-Bengaluru route, the Nava Kerala Bus service will depart from Kozhikode at 4 a.m. and arrive in Bengaluru at 11:30 a.m.
The return journey will commence from Bengaluru at 2:30 p.m., reaching Kozhikode by 10 p.m. The bus route is via Thamarassery, Kalpetta, Sultan Bathery, and Mysore. All the tickets for the Sunday trip to Bengaluru have already been sold out. Ticket is priced at Rs 1171.
After the Nava Kerala Sadas, no decision was taken at the government level about what to do with the bus. It was alleged that the government abandoned the bus after the Nava Kerala Sadas event concluded. With this, it was decided that the bus should be used for regular services. All the seats that were there when the ministers travelled have been replaced with new pushback seats.
Originally intended for KSRTC's budget tourism project, the luxury bus, a Bharat Benz model costing Rs 1.16 crore, underwent modifications for regular service use after the Nava Kerala Sadas. The vehicle, stationed in Bengaluru for three months for modifications, was brought to KSRTC's Pappanamcode Central Works for the service.
