Thiruvananthapuram: Thomas K. Thomas, MLA from Kuttanad, has been announced as the state president of the NCP Sharad Pawar faction. The announcement was made by the party's national president, Sharad Pawar, on Friday. P.M. Suresh Babu and P.K. Rajan Master have also been elected as working presidents.

Thomas K. Thomas was chosen for the president's position after P.C. Chacko's resignation. The decision to appoint Thomas K. Thomas as state president was made during a meeting held in Mumbai, in the presence of Sharad Pawar.

The Saseendran faction had been working to call a state council meeting and bring forth a resolution to remove Chacko from the president's post. While they were gathering signatures for this, Chacko unexpectedly submitted his resignation.

Chacko's efforts to remove Saseendran from his ministerial position and replace him with Thomas K. Thomas backfired. When Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan took a strong stance against the ministerial reshuffle, Chacko found it increasingly difficult to maintain his position within the party. Ultimately, as Thomas K. Thomas joined forces with the Saseendran faction, Chacko, who had come from the Congress, became completely isolated within the party.
