Deceased Rifa Mehnu and her husband Mehnaz.
Kochi: The Kerala High Court here on Wednesday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea moved by Mehnaz who was booked in a case related to the mysterious death of his wife Rifa Mehnu, a popular vlogger.
Earlier, the probe team investigating the death case had submitted a report before the court. According to the officials, Mehnaz tortured Rifa mentally and physically, which in turn forced her to end her life. Police booked Mehnaz for physical and mental torture, domestic violence and abetment to suicide. He is booked in another case as he married Rifa when she was a minor.
Rifa Mehnu, 21, a Malayalee YouTuber and vlogger, was found dead at her flat in Dubai on March 1. The deceased’s family had alleged that her husband and his family members deceptively claimed the post-mortem happened in Dubai. According to Rifa’s family, she had no reason to commit suicide. Hours before Rifa was found dead, she had a video call around 9 pm with her parents along with her two-year-old son from her workplace. The next day, her family came to know about her death.
