Kottayam: Renowned music director Alleppey Ranganath, 70, passed away on Sunday night. He was under treatment at Kottayam Medical College due to respiratory illness. He tested positive for Covid-19.
Ranganath's first film was 'Jesus' in 1973. He has composed more than 2,000 songs, including many Lord Ayyappa devotional songs. He was selected for the Harivarasanam award this year. Ranganath received the award at Sabarimala Temple. He expressed discomfort upon returning home and soon tested positive for Covid-19.
He was living with his family at Ettumanoor here for the last four decades.
