Thalayolaparambu: Nithina, who was brutally murdered by her collegemate Abhishek on Friday at St Thomas College in Pala, was the only ray of hope for her ailing mother. The locals and neighbours remembered her as a kindhearted and smart girl.

After separating from her husband, Nithina's mother Bindhu lived for her daughter despite having health diseases. Hailing from Thalayolaparambu in Vaikom, the family was struggling to survive.

Due to her poor health conditions, Bindhu was unable to go to work on a regular basis and was often helped by Nithina in whatever manner she could. She even engaged in part-time jobs to meet the household expenses. Bindhu always dreamed of seeing her daughter becoming successful in her life.

The family had to abandon their old house after it was severely damaged during the flood. Since then, they were living in a house arranged with the help of businessmen Joy Alukkas. 

“Nithina was an active member in the social activities and was an active participant during the election in the area,” Jose, a panchayat member said.

On Friday, Nithina left her home with her mother and headed to college, while her mother went to Kottayam. Upon hearing the news, Bindhu went to the hospital only to hear the terrible news of her daughters’ untimely demise.

In a brutal incident, Nithina Mol (22) of Thalayolaparambu, was murdered by her collegemate Abhishek when she was coming out of the exam hall at the Pala St. Thomas College in Kottayam on Friday. The girl was pronounced dead after she was brought to the hospital.

According to reports, Abhishek and Nithina who were classmates were in a relationship. The accused unleashed the crime after she broke up with him.
