
Palakkad: Congress leadership is trying to pacify party leader A V Gopinath who announced that he will contest the assembly polls against Shafi Parambil. KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran contacted Gopinath requesting him not to take any hasty decision. Gopinath said that Mullappally talked to him for over an hour on Wednesday night to resolve the issue.
Gopinath made it clear that Mullappally acknowledged the issues raised by him were serious and it won’t be rejected. KPCC president requested to consider his plea as a friend and not to take a hasty decision, Gopinath said.
Meanwhile, Gopinath stated that his problems are still not resolved and that it cannot be settled just because the KPCC president contacted him. KPCC working president K Sudhakaran has promised to meet in person on Friday, Gopinath said.
DCC president V K Sreekandan has convened a meeting of senior party leaders for further discussions. Also Sreekandan and other leaders had visited Gopinath at his residence the other day in order to discuss the issues.
