Union Minister Suresh Gopi demands return of funds to Karuvannur depositors after ED property seizures, criticising Cooperative Dept’s refusal.

Karuvannur: Union Minister Suresh Gopi has urged that the money of Karuvannur depositors be returned to them. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already seized assets in the bank and is ready to return them to the depositors. However, the Cooperative Department has taken the stance that this money should not be accepted, Suresh Gopi said. He was speaking at a gathering at Irinjalakuda in Thrissur.
“You must get your money back. It is my understanding that the state cooperative department has decided not to accept these funds. Because if the ED deposits this money back into the account, you can at least receive a share of it. It may not be the entire sum, but it will still be significant,” Suresh Gopi said.
“At present, the decision is not to accept it. My only request is this: no ED is needed, no Union Minister is needed, no State Minister is needed, no Chief Minister is needed. Simply return the money that people entrusted to you with respect — that’s all I ask,” Suresh Gopi said.
