Thiruvananthapuram: Dancer Satyabhama, after shaking up a whole conversation on discrimination, now says that she did not use casteist words but maintained that dark-skinned children are left behind even if they are good performers. She was reacting to the Human Rights Commission filing a case against her remarks.
Satyabhama said that among her students, the dark-skinned ones did not win prizes in competitions. She tells them not to compete so that they don’t get disappointed. I have no caste and have never discriminated based on caste. When media persons provoked me, I may have said some things, she claimed.
She maintained that when she said ‘black’ she was referring only to the skin colour and not a specific caste. Satyabhama says she refuses to respond to people who troll her.
