Kerala Police parodies Mohanlal's viral jewellery ad to promote the 112 emergency helpline. Watch Mammootty's cameo

Kerala Police shared a video on their social media platforms on Thursday, inspired by a recent jewellery commercial featuring actor Mohanlal. The video, aimed at raising awareness about the emergency helpline number 112, cleverly references the viral ad while delivering a clear public safety message.
The original jewellery ad, presented by filmmaker Prakash Varma—Mohanlal’s co-star in Thudarum—shows the actor playfully taking a necklace from the set and heading into what appears to be his vanity van. Inside, he is seen dancing gracefully while wearing the jewellery. The ad drew wide attention on social media, sparking conversations around gender expression and personal style.
Kerala Police’s version carried the caption “ദേ.. ഞങ്ങളെത്തി...” (translated to “See, we reached”). It begins with a scene from the original where the film crew is seen searching for a missing necklace on set. The video then transitions to a person dialling “112”. In the next shot, actor Mammootty—shown in police uniform using a clip from one of his previous films—is seen promptly getting into a police jeep and driving off to respond.
The video concludes with a clear message urging the public to call 112 in case of any emergency. The message reinforces that help is only a phone call away.
Netizens have appreciated the initiative, praising Kerala Police for using a familiar cultural reference to spread awareness in a creative and accessible way.
