Vithura: The dead body of a woman who was reported missing on Monday was found in an abandoned house adjacent to a forest region on Tuesday evening. She was reportedly strangled to death. The deceased was identified as Sunila (22), a native of Manali in Vithura. Her body was spotted at a house in the Kallankudi Oorammuttu hamlet.
Sunila’s friend Achu (24), who is suspected to have committed the crime was taken into custody by the police from Palode Panayamuttom.
Sunila left her house on Monday early morning by saying that she was heading to Medical College Hospital along with her friend. As Sunila did not return by evening, her parents and husband Sibi lodged a complaint at the police station. An investigation was launched, and the body was recovered from the abandoned house.
Police picked up Achu who was found under suspicious circumstances. He reportedly unravelled the details of the murder during interrogation. The accused told police that he had been in a relationship with Sunila for a long. As they could no longer be together, the duo had decided to end their lives. Hence, as per the plan, he first killed Sunila and was preparing to end his life.
The accused has been handed over to Vithura police.
