
Shirur (Karnataka): The painful wait is tragically coming to an end. The mortal remains of Arjun from Kannadikkal, Kozhikode, who was reported missing in the landslide at Shirur, Karnataka, are being transported to his home after the completion of official procedures. At Kozhikode, his relatives wait for the arrival of his remains, their eyes dried from tears after enduring an agonizing wait of around two and a half months.
Preparations are underway at the Kannadikkal residence for the final farewell. The remains are expected to arrive in the morning. Arrangements have been made for friends and relatives to pay their last respects to Arjun at the house for around one hour. The cremation will take place in the compound of the house.
On Friday, the mortal remains were handed over to Arjun's relatives after the completion of formalities following a DNA test. The ambulance set off towards Kozhikode in the evening, accompanied by Karwar MLA Satheesh Krishna Sail.
Minister A.K. Saseendran will receive the remains at Azhiyur near Vadakara, the border of Kozhikode district, at 5 a.m on Saturday. From there, the body will be taken to his home in a mourning procession. Lorry drivers will follow the ambulance from Pooladikkunnu. The remains will be displayed at the house for about one hour for the public to pay homage.
The Karnataka government has announced a solatium of ₹5 lakhs for Arjun's family. Satheesh Krishna Sail, the MLA, will hand over this solatium to Arjun’s mother on Saturday.
