Kozhikode: Fresh allegations have been levelled against Muslim Youth League state general secretary P K Firoz that he misappropriated the funds obtained through donations in connection with the sensational rape cases in Kathua of Jammu and Kashmir and Unnao of Uttar Pradesh.

Former member of the Muslim Youth League national committee Yusuf Padanilam has raised the allegation against Firoz and CK Subair.

Funds were collected from the public including in mosques on April 20 for protection to the families of the victims and to provide legal support in the incidents in Kathua and Unnao. Crores of rupees were collected. But there is no data on this. Rs 15 lakh was used by Firoz to pay off his debts and Subair used the funds for his north Indian trips, Yusuf said adding that he was being threatened to conceal the information.

Many including IUML Leader PK Kunhalikutty had raised the matter. Firoz had promised to solve the issues within six months. But there was no progress. Hence the issue is being brought to the attention of the public, he added.

The Punjab Muslim Federation is in charge of the Kathua and Unnao cases.

Yusuf was suspended from the party as part of disciplinary action after he contested as a rebel candidate against the UDF candidate in the local body election.
