
Thiruvananthapuram: The Minister for Food and Civil Supplies G R Anil said that there has been no decision to stop distribution of free kits. He added that the instruction stating that the kit must be distributed only to priority categories is under review. The minister also added that the government is facing financial difficulties following the distribution of kits.
The final decision will be taken by considering the financial crisis. He added that the government started food kit distribution during the time of the pandemic after understanding the plight of common people.
There had been information that the free food kit distribution by the government would be halted. The Department of Finance had also informed the Food and Civil Supplies Department that distribution of kits is difficult as the state is facing extreme financial crisis and since Covid restrictions have been eased there is no need to continue.
