Kochi: CITU leader PK Anil Kumar who landed in controversy, after purchasing a luxury car, was removed from all official duties. A decision regarding the same was taken by the CPM leadership under its state secretary M V Govindan. District secretariat and committee were intimated about the decision on Thursday.

Earlier, news about the purchase of the trade union leader had surfaced in the media, sparking controversies. Anil Kumar’s decision to buy Cooper, while he already had two cars in his garage, was widely criticized, taking into consideration the values of the organisation he represents. After the leader uploaded photographs of his latest car on Facebook, a group of veteran trade union leaders in the district, brought the shady deals involving Anil Kumar, to the notice of the CPM state leadership. The move comes in the wake of this.

CN Mohanan, party district secretary and president of the petroleum and gas workers union was also evicted from office as part of the disciplinary action.

It should be noted that the party usually scrutinizes the luxury purchases of its leaders. Several regulations have been put in place to regulate the luxury craze among the cadres of the party.
