Puthukkad (Thrissur): People who visit the children’s ward of Taluk Hospital will be surprised to see colourful walls instead of the dull ones usually expected in government hospitals. Many of the popular cartoon characters including Mayavi, Dinkan, Mickey Mouse, Dora and Ben 10 are painted on the walls to attract little children.
The employees of the hospital have turned the ward literally a ‘child-friendly’ ward. They believe that the kids who are exhausted with diseases feel relaxed on seeing these characters. The beautiful walls at children’s ward was the idea of Puthukkad Taluk Hospital Staff Council.
The ward was renovated using Rs 75,000 collected by the council. The staff council was formed by the employees of the hospital after the flood havoc in 2018. They spend a share of their income for public welfare and the development of the institution.
The renovated ward was inaugurated by minister C Raveendranath. Staff nurse Aswathi P Rajendran, who is in charge of the children’s ward, was honoured at the function along with other social workers.
