Thiruvananthapuram: Condolence messages have started flowing in connection with the death of legendary singer P Jayachandran as megastars Mammootty and Mohanlal have paid tributes to their dear singer.
Actor Mammootty expressed his condolences on Facebook, writing, "Respectful tributes to the beloved melodist." Mohanlal, in his message, mentioned, "Salutations to Jayachandran, who gifted us timeless, enchanting songs."
Mohanlal further reminisced about the singer, saying, "Jayettan, who became the melodist of generations through youthful songs, was like an elder brother to me. Like all Malayalis, I too embraced the voice that poured out with golden hues. Jayettan often visited our home, sang my mother’s favorite songs, and embraced me like his own younger brother. Though he sang only a few songs for me in films, I consider it my fortune that all of them were embraced by the hearts of the people."
P. Jayachandran passed away on Thursday night at 7:45 PM in a private hospital in Thrissur. He had been undergoing treatment for cancer for a long time.
The funeral will take place on Saturday at 3:30 PM at Paliyath House in Chendamangalam. On Friday morning at 8:00 AM, the body will be brought to his house in Poonkunnath, Thrissur. From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the public can pay their respects at the Thrissur Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
