Varkala: The Gurusagaram-2025 conclave, jointly organised by Mathrubhumi and the Sivagiri Mutt as part of the Sivagiri pilgrimage, commenced at Sivagiri.

The conclave will deliberate on the messages Sree Narayana Guru imparted through his thoughts and philosophy on life, education, and spirituality.

Mathrubhumi Editor Manoj K. Das inaugurated the conclave at 10 am. Sivagiri Mutt president Swami Satchidananda, general secretary Swami Shubhanananda and Swami Sivanarayana Theertha attended the inaugural session. Prof. M.N. Karassery and Alankode Leelakrishnan delivered the Guru Memorial Lectures.

The first session, which began at noon, discussed ‘The role of Guru in the Indian Renaissance’. Prof. M.N. Karassery, Dr T.S. Shyam Kumar, and Swami Sivaswaroopananda participated in the discussion, moderated by Mangad Balachandran.

A discussion on ‘Guru: Prophet of the Future World’ will feature P.N. Gopikrishnan, S. Gopalakrishnan, and Sivagiri Mutt president Swami Satchidananda, with Mathrubhumi News deputy editor Abhilash Mohanan as moderator.

The third session, titled ‘Sri Narayana Guru: Poet, Philosopher and Reformer’, will include V. Shinilal, J. Raghu, and Prof. Sajay KV, and will be moderated by Sivagiri magazine chief editor Swami Avyayananda.

The year 2025 marks the centenary of the historic meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and Sree Narayana Guru. The Gurusagaram-2025 conclave is being organised as part of the centenary commemorations of that landmark encounter.
