Munnar: A tea shop at Iruttukanam in Idukki is a spectacle to behold for the passersby with mysterious flowers in the colour of orange adorning the rooftop. Located on the side of Kochi- Danushkodi national highway, the tea shop belongs to Mathew, an Anavarati native.
18 years ago, the Trumpet Vine Plant, a breed of flower native to European countries, was gifted to Mathew by some tourists. Unaware of its qualities, Mathew planted it near to his shop only for it to gradually grow and spread across the rooftop.
The flowering of the plant is between December and April. Due to its vibrant colour, the travellers often stop by to admire its beauty, take photos and drink tea from his shop. With time, the shop had become famous on social media.
