Taliparamba (Kannur): A massive fire broke out near the Taliparamba bus stand on Thursday, gutting multiple shops in a commercial building adjacent to the national highway. The fire, which reportedly started due to a suspected short circuit in a toy shop, has since spread to mobile stores, textile shops, and other nearby outlets.

Twelve fire units from Kannur, Payyannur, and nearby stations have been deployed, but the situation remains tense.

Eyewitnesses and local residents claim that the fire force arrived late, allowing the flames to intensify and affect a larger area. Thick smoke and rising flames have caused panic among shop owners and bystanders, with many being evacuated from the area.

Several shops have already been completely gutted. Authorities have yet to confirm the exact cause or assess the full extent of losses.
