Thiruvananthapuram: Alappuzha native Mani Viswanath has taken charge as the chairperson of Milma's Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union (TRCMPU) after LDF emerged victorious for the first time in the elections held here. LDF won nine seats, and UDF won five seats accordingly.
She has been serving as the union administrative convenor in TRCMPU. It is the first time ever that a woman is assuming charge as the chairperson of the Milma union.
The results of the election --held almost 1.5 years ago-- were announced last day after receiving approval from the High Court. The division bench of HC gave permission to announce the results after including the votes cast in the dairy cooperative societies under the administration.
LDF has come to power in the Thiruvananthapuram Milma Union for the first time in history. As of now, UDF is in power in the Ernakulam union, while LDF is in charge of the Malabar union. With the unprecedented win in Thiruvananthapuram, LDF came to power in the Milma Federation.
