
Alappuzha: A man who died in Alappuzha has been confirmed with COVID-19. The deceased was identified as Chengannur Pandanand native Jose Joy (38). He died at Alappuzha medical college by Friday afternoon. It is stated in the medical bulletin that Jose was affected with liver disease and high blood pressure.
Jose returned home from Abu Dhabi only last week and was quarantined since then. He was admitted to the medical college as his condition worsened. His fluid was sent for tests after death and later COVID was confirmed. With his death, the number of COVID deaths in the state rose to eight. Two persons including him died on Friday due to COVID-19.
Thiruvalla native Joshy Mathew who was under treatment at Kottayam medical college also had died on Friday. Joshy has visited his children in Dubai along with his wife and returned on May 11. He was under quarantine at a private hotel in Pathanamthitta. The disease was confirmed on May 18. First he was being treated at Pathanamthitta general hospital and was shifted to Kottayam medical college on May 25.
