Kollam: A man allegedly tried to kill his wife by slitting her throat in Pathanapuram here on Tuesday. The incident happened around 1:30 PM. Accused Ganesh was caught by the locals and handed over to the police.

The couple had married nine months ago. But, around one and half months ago, Ganesh had filed a complaint at the Pathanapuram police station stating that his wife had gone missing. Following the incident, the police spotted Revathy and asked her to report to the police station, for a compromise talk with Ganesh. However, the issues between the couple were not sorted out and they informed the police about their decision to part ways. The couple had said that they had decided to approach the family court for a divorce.

The murder attempt comes at this juncture. He used a knife to commit the crime. Locals rushed towards him and held him captive before handing him over to the police. Revathy who is said to have sustained a serious injury was rushed to a private hospital in the locality. Later, she was shifted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
