Man sets lottery agency on fire in EKM after issuing threat on Facebook live

Thrippunithura: In a bizarre incident, a man set ablaze a lottery agency after posting a Facebook Live threatening to set it on fire. The incident took place in Statue, Thrippunithura here on Friday around 5.40 pm.

The police have arrested the assailant, who has been identified as Rajesh TS, a native of Vadakkekotta. Apparently, there has been a loss worth Rs 1.5 lakhs and numerous lottery tickets were burnt in the fire.

However, a major mishap in the locality packed by establishments was avoided as the employees poured water on the fire. According to the agency employees, Rajesh is a lottery seller in the area. The reason behind the attack remains unknown.

Earlier, Rajesh, in a Facebook Live, had threatened to set the lottery agency on fire on Friday at 6 pm. “We need real Communism, the one we had during EMS rule. We need comrades who are willing to serve the people,” he said on Facebook.
