Kottayam: A man created a ruckus by lying under a train in Kothanellur here. A 47-year-man hailing from Parambuzha caused the trouble and scared the locals. The police said that the person was mentally derailed.

The incident took place on Friday morning when Palaruvi Express was passing. When the train slowed down near Kothanellur railway cross, the man entered the track and waved to stop the train. When the train stopped, he lay down under a compartment.

On seeing this, the locals rushed to him and tried to pull him out. However, they could not move him. With this, fire force personnel was informed and they managed to take him out of the train.

As the person expressed mental disturbance, the police and fire force shifted him to medical college. The witnesses of the incident said that the man lay under the train for about 30 minutes.
