Perinthalmanna: Police arrested a man for murdering his wife in Elamkulam, Perinthalmanna, on Sunday. Muhammed Rafiq (35), a Mannarkkad native, was arrested by Perinthalmanna Police in connection with the death of his wife Fathima Fahna (30).

On Saturday night, Rafiq allegedly killed his wife by suffocating her with a cloth. The couple had been sleeping next to their four-and-a-half-year-old child when the incident happened. The police have stated that the accused was motivated by anger after his wife rejected his sexual advances and suspected her of having an affair.

Before committing the act, Rafiq tied his wife's hands and feet to a nearby window. Her mother, who was sleeping in another room, found her daughter tied to the window and immediately called for help. The victim was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Following this, Rafiq absconded after stealing his wife’s gold ornaments. Later, he was taken into custody from his house in Mannarkkad.
