
Thiruvananthapuram: A man arrested for suspected terrorist links is involved the murder of an ASI at Kaliyakkavilai check post, police said.
Officials said that Ijaz Pasha, who was arrested for suspected links with terror outfit Al Ummah, had given the gun to the assailants who murdered the policeman. Tamil Nadu Q branch is questioning Ijaz.
Police arrested five persons including Ijaz Pasha from Bengaluru on Monday morning. Ijaz was working as a taxi driver. While questioning the five, police found out that Ijaz had given the gun to the assailants.
Ijaz told police that he handed over the gun, brought in from Mumbai, to Thoufeeq, one of the assailants in Bengaluru.
Police have also recovered more CCTV footages to prove that the murder was well planned. CCTV footages showed the assailants observing the Kaliyakkavilai market area minutes before they gunned down the policeman.
Both Kerala and Tamil Nadu police are jointly investigating the murder. The officials have already questioned around 100 people. The 10 special teams of Tamil Nadu police investigating the murder are led by SP Sreenatha.
Kanyakumari natives Thoufeeq and Abdul Sameer gunned down ASI Wilson near Padanthalumoodu checkpost at night on January 8.
