Ollur: The man-eating tiger which was caged in Wayanad earlier this week will undergo multiple surgeries at the Puthur Zoological Park on Thursday. The procedures will be supervised by Dr Shyam K Venugopal, head of the surgery department at Mannuthy veterinary university. The big cat will be sedated this afternoon, and a detailed medical checkup conducted on it. Arrangements will be put in place so that the animal does not turn violent before getting sedated.
The predator has sustained an eight-centimetre deep wound on its face. Injuries were spotted on its mouth, teeth, jaws and nose as well. The tiger has bruises/wounds all over body and on its front leg too. The tiger is suspected to have engaged in a duel with a porcupine.
All the gates at the park will remain closed on Thursday. Only employees, doctors and other experts will be allowed to enter the premises. The tiger ate five kilograms of meat yesterday. Round the clock tight security has been put in place.
