Pathanamthitta: Man undergoing treatment at a hospital in Adoor succumbed to rabies. The deceased, P.M Simon (63), an Adoor Manakala native, had been receiving medical treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital since Wednesday.
Simon was bitten by a stray animal near his residence a few days ago. Following the incident, he began experiencing severe fever and physical discomfort. His family rushed him to a nearby private clinic for immediate treatment.
However, Simon's condition deteriorated upon returning home, manifesting symptoms of rabies. Consequently, he was admitted to Adoor General Hospital, where doctors confirmed the presence of the virus in his blood through a diagnostic test. Simon was promptly transferred to Kottayam Medical College Hospital for specialised treatment but succumbed to the infection on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment.
