Chalakudy (Thrissur): A 56-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly misbehaving with a young woman and assaulting the bus conductor who questioned him, thereby obstructing official duty, on a KSRTC bus travelling from Aluva to Chalakudy.
The accused has been identified as Krishnankutty, a resident of Kuruppuvalappil, Chittissery, Nenmanikkara. He was arrested by Chalakudy SHO M.K. Sajeev. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
According to police, the accused, who was seated in the front of the bus, pulled the hair of a woman passenger and behaved inappropriately with her. The conductor of the bus, Joby from Edakochi, intervened and questioned his actions.
The bus was then taken to the Chalakudy KSRTC bus stand, and Krishnankutty was summoned to the station master’s office. It was at this point that he allegedly attacked the conductor.
Following the woman’s complaint, two cases were registered at the Chalakudy police station, one for harassment of the passenger and another for obstructing and assaulting a public servant on duty. The accused was subsequently arrested.
